Let The Right One Slip In Lyrics
Let the right one in
Let the old dreams die
Let the wrong ones go
They cannot
They cannot
They cannot do
What you want them to
Let the right one in
Let the old dreams die
Let the wrong ones go
They do not 1
They do not 1
They do not see 1
What you want them to
Let the right one in
Let the old days lay 2
Put the tricks and schemes
For good, away
I will advise
until my mouth dries
I will advise you to
Let the right one slip in
Slip in
Slip in
And when at last it does
I'd say you were within your rights
To fight
The right ones and say
What kept you so long 3
What kept you so long
Let the old dreams die
Let the wrong ones go
They cannot
They cannot
They cannot do
What you want them to
Let the old dreams die
Let the wrong ones go
They do not 1
They do not 1
They do not see 1
What you want them to
Let the old days lay 2
Put the tricks and schemes
For good, away
until my mouth dries
I will advise you to
Let the right one slip in
Slip in
Slip in
I'd say you were within your rights
To fight
The right ones and say
What kept you so long 3
What kept you so long

This song inspired the title for the masterpiece of a novel (and film) "Let the Right One In," as well as the title fir John Ajvide Lindqvist's selection of stories (with a sequel to Let the Right One In), "Let the Old Dreams Die."
Love love love this song so much! And the book's pretty nifty too, and the film I love... more than either? It hurts my Morrisseyfixated soul to say so, but I really do.
But I love the song anyway. ^_^
I think there is a double meaning to this: one of course it is about letting the right person into your life, letting the past die so you are open to new things.
Two: I think it is obviously about sex - "let the right one slip in; they cannot do what you want them to?" I can't believe how long it took me to figure that out.
What no comments on this song? I adore this song...it's so much fun. I think it's about letting the right person into your life...rather than just automatically rejecting everyone.
I think it's about being more open to people in the hopes of finding "the right one", and as enolf said, not automatically rejecting everyone and holding them to impossibly high standards.
