And We Danced Lyrics
She was a be-bop baby on a hard day's night.
She was hangin' on Johnny , he was holdin' on tight
I could feel her coming from a mile away.
There was no use talking, there was nothing to say
When the band began to play and play.
And we danced like a wave on the ocean, romanced
We were liars in love and we danced
Swept away for a moment by chance
And we danced and danced danced.
I met my be-bop baby at the Union Hall
She cold dance all night and shake the paint off the walls.
But when I saw her smile across a crowded room
Well I knew we'd have to leave the party soon
As the band began to play out of tune.
And we danced like a wave on the ocean, romanced
We were liars in love and we danced
Swept away for a moment by chance
And we danced and danced danced.
The endless beat she's walking my way
Hear the music fade when she says
Are we getting too close, do we dare to get closer
The room is spinning as she whispers my name
And we danced like wave on the ocean, romanced
We were liars in love and we danced
Swept away for a moment by chance
And we danced, danced, danced.
She was hangin' on Johnny , he was holdin' on tight
I could feel her coming from a mile away.
There was no use talking, there was nothing to say
When the band began to play and play.
We were liars in love and we danced
Swept away for a moment by chance
And we danced and danced danced.
She cold dance all night and shake the paint off the walls.
But when I saw her smile across a crowded room
Well I knew we'd have to leave the party soon
As the band began to play out of tune.
We were liars in love and we danced
Swept away for a moment by chance
And we danced and danced danced.
Hear the music fade when she says
Are we getting too close, do we dare to get closer
The room is spinning as she whispers my name
We were liars in love and we danced
Swept away for a moment by chance
And we danced, danced, danced.

As we celebrate America's birthday on the Happy Fourth, leave it to Philadelphia's Americana Rockers the Hooters to put us in a good, happy and celebratory mood with Jig-and-Reel two-step dance-rocker And We Danced. Even though the writing is nothing to write home about, the feel and mood of the song is the sound of joy through rock & roll. It was good then and it's still good now. Rob Hyman and Eric Bazilian are clearly in in for love, joy, friendship and rock & roll-that the sheer joy of And We Danced shines through the exuberant and ebuillient performance. One of my favorite Eighties Classic Rock Songs, And We Danced conjures up happier and simpler times that can still come again. A brilliant rocker, And We Danced-it's a song that's timeless. Time stands still when we hear this song. Hooters Rock! Happy Fourth!
To me, it was always about them seeing each other in the same circles. They danced very well together but never dated. They did have a connection and attracting, but it was only about dancing over the years.
