5:15 Lyrics

Why should I care, why should I care?
Girls of fifteen
Sexually knowing
The ushers are sniffing
Eau-de-coloning
The seats are seductive
Celibate sitting
Pretty girls digging
Prettier women
Magically bored
On a quiet street corner
Free frustration
In our minds and our toes
Quiet storm water
M-m-my generation
Uppers and downers
Either way blood flows
Inside outside, leave me alone
Inside outside, nowhere is home
Inside outside, where have I been?
Out of my brain on the five fifteen
Out of my brain on the train
Out of my brain on the train
On a raft in the quarry
Slowly sinking
Back of a lorry
Holy hitching
Dreadfully sorry
Apple scrumping
Born in the war
Birthday punching
He man drag
In the glittering ballroom
Gravely outrageous
In my high heel shoes
Tightly undone
They know what they're showing
Sadly ecstatic
That their heroes are news
Inside outside, leave me alone
Inside outside, nowhere is home
Inside outside, where have I been?
Out of my brain on the five fifteen
Out of my brain on the train
Out of my brain on the train, on the train, out of my brain
Woo
Out of my brain on the train
Here it comes
Woo
Out of my brain on the train, on the train
Out of my brain on the train
Why should I care?
Why should I carerrently missing these lyrics.

Quadrophenia is a good movie, but the Album is Fantastic! i recommend listening to the album first there are some slightly boring parts, but the album should be required listening as a primer before watching the film.

@regb I agree, the album is fantastic. But I disagree that there are boring parts...give it a chance, ALL of it will grow on you!

Well........the movie is 'Quadrophenia'. It's about a group of rival....well....lifestyles in a way. There are Mods (smart-dressing, pill-popping, scooter riders) and there's the Rockers (scruffy, beer swigging motorcycle riders) The story follows a young mod called Jimmy. The general story is about the realisation of that what he believed in most (everything mod) was a lie. His hero (AceFace, the lead Mod, played by Sting) was a mere Bell Boy (hence the song Bell Boy) and Jimmy realises that he is just the same as everyone else. This along with the girl that he liked - Steph - being all nasty to him makes him go off the whole mod thing. WATCH THE FILM, it's STUNNING.

First poster is stupid, The Who's TOMMY was the very first real rock opera, which was made into a move the same year QUADROPHENIA the album was released ('75) , the QUAD movie wasnt released till '79

The movie, while very good, did not fully depict Townshend's idea of this amazing story of Jimmy the Mod, I believe it can only be properly depicted through the music.

ANYWAYS....about the song....I'm pretty sure its simply Jimmy on hallucinogens riding the train to somewhere, he eventually ends up at a boatyard, I can't assume that the train take him directly there, very possible though.

But yeah, its about what Jimmy sees while hes on the train.

@wildmonkeys77 Actually Quadrophenia was released in 1973

@wildmonkeys77 Cone on, man. “The first poster is stupid”? You’re correct about Tommy being the first rock opera, of course, but how about we avoid the ad hominem attacks? We’re all Wholigans on this Magic Bus, after all.

Actually nagromnai, jimmy doesn't commit suicide at the end of the film. remember that seemingly pointless bit before the film where he's walking AWAY from the cliff?!?! Not many people notice it though.

@1imaginarygirl Took me dozens of viewings and about couple of decades before I realized that. Completely changed my understanding pf the film. Different from the intentionally ambiguous ending of the album, according to Pete’s liner note narrative at least.

Pete Townsend remarked that the first verse of 5;15 'Girls of fifteen, Sexually knowing The Ushers are Sniffing, Eu-du-cologning, The seats are seductive, Celibate sitting - was a reference to where 15 year old girls would literally piss themselves watching bands (as they were so excited) and the ushers at the theatres would have to spray Eu - du - cologne in order to mask the smell they left behind on the seating.

A pretty good representation of the meaning behind what this song CAN mean is in the Who's first movie,... Sting's in it too.

i haven't seen the movie, explain it please.

I think basically this song is about how things have gone wrong. In the beginning, the lyrics talk about how girls dig prettier women. This shows how people are never satisfied with themselves.

Pretty good description of the movie, wasn't Jimmys cousin a rocker tho? That was a major influence also. It's been 20 years since I last saw it. And I think Tommy was The Who's first movie, Quadrophenia didn't come out for a few years after.....
