It seems pretty clear this is a song about people who don't have a work ethic and want to live off others - the lazy gent living in a tent, strung out on the company dole, and Superman's daughter living in a hole by the water, chewing on a bone but pretty as home made sin. Add to that all the other people around him who are "just the same way" (more, more, daddy gimme some, gimme some), and it's got him feeling like a "funny looking money machine". Not exactly sure what the chorus means, but it's possible that he means he has his life together, at least from a work perspective. This song predates the song "Line em up", so it may not have the same meaning that Mr. Taylor describes for that song on the CD, but despite underlying meanings it's possible that it was partly inspired by visual images of things in a line.

I heard him say in a concert right before he played this song, and he ACTUALLY SAID, "This song is strictly and absolutely meaningless"
