The English Roses Lyrics
Just before it rains
The wind whips 'round the balcony
And the sky closes on the English roses
And she'll be pacin'
'round and 'round and 'round and 'round her room
These storms always find here to remind her
To the endless sky
The pink over grey
She looks for an answer
But it's too late
Maybe it's true
Some things were just never meant to be
Maybe not
This is a story
Fruit cut from the vine
Forgot and left to rot
Long before its time
This is a story
About the girl who lived next door
Looking for someone to hold
A wish made on a star
Brought her here tonight
At a courtyard she waits
A thousand broken dates
But she holds the hymnal
Where so carefully pressed
Is the english rose she laid to rest
It's only a story
Flowers in full bloom
Bouquets in every room
Ooh, this is a story
Fruit cut from the vine
Looking for someone to hold
The wind whips 'round the balcony
And the sky closes on the English roses
And she'll be pacin'
'round and 'round and 'round and 'round her room
These storms always find here to remind her
The pink over grey
She looks for an answer
But it's too late
Maybe it's true
Some things were just never meant to be
Maybe not
Fruit cut from the vine
Forgot and left to rot
Long before its time
This is a story
About the girl who lived next door
Looking for someone to hold
Brought her here tonight
At a courtyard she waits
A thousand broken dates
But she holds the hymnal
Where so carefully pressed
Is the english rose she laid to rest
Flowers in full bloom
Bouquets in every room
Ooh, this is a story
Fruit cut from the vine
Looking for someone to hold

My Mother had an accordion and she made me take piano and guitar lessons after she divorced my dad. She burnt our home when I was in Junior High School and she was also drunk frequently When I lived in the Mormon Valley with her I never attended Church and I heard God was only a dog. English Roses is a song about a girl that was really what you would call an, "ugly dog" . One of my friends drives The Snake dragster and his racing buddy used to call girls you should not choose to date, :ugly dog". I was afraid of peer group pressure and couldn\'t think of dating an ugly dog like the one in this sad song. I\'m reminded how my band in San Francisco (it rains about every day there) left me standing after 2 concerts and caused me almost to die of never reaching my destination..
