I Need You

I believe this song talks about the main character's necessity to have his wife/girlfriend in order to fully live his life. For example, the song talks about the fact that he feels as if he is living “a misguided goal.” Overall, this has led him to have a miserable life, or one which he has lost his focus in. I believe that in an extreme scenario, humans can become confused and misguided. When we have a tremendous life change, for example death or another tragic event, we begin to seek answers in a world that we can no longer understand. In a Kansas song, there would probably be a reference to how religion can help you understand the world, however in this song, the main character doesn’t do anything to get his life back on track. Instead, he only makes this song as a desperate plea for his lady to come back. After looking at many Foreigner songs, it has been clear that many of them convey the same message in some way or another. Our subconscious mind knows that once a tremendous negative change is made, it is unlikely that change will ever be reversed. However, since we live in search of answers, this fact becomes obscured. Life moves forwards, not backwards.
