Cover art for V-2 Schneider lyrics by David Bowie

The snare at the beginning obviously reminiscent of gunfire as this song is referencing, in part, to the V-2 rocket developed for the german army during WWII.

That's a nice and fanciful theory you've decided to make up for yourself and it's obviously working for you, but it just doesn't hit home for me

He’s trying to put a picture together for you so that if you choose to, you can see the world as it really is... what’s the significance of the v2? To understand the answer, you first need context. Bowie provides this for you on Hunky Dory and The Man Who Sold The World - Quicksand and Bewlay Brothers for what really happened in WW2... Also, This album was heavily collaborated on with John Lennon, who lyrically devoted his entire solo career to exposing the truth.

@baconflaps That's a nice and fanciful theory that's obviously working for you, but it just doesn't ring true for me

Please disregard my 'fanciful theory' comment (it was directed at the other replier)

I think your knowledge of the 70s catalogue is well insightful You're obviously a real, genuine Bowie Aficionado

TMWSTW is my absolute favourite Bowie album of his entire career - the lyrics, tone and musicianship is second to none (and the start of his partnership with the very gifted Ronson)
