Ice Nice Lyrics

You look at him twice
Think of how nice
His one on one face
He promised no bite
And finish a fight
"Place coin in slot provided"
Ice, Nice, everything's twice as bright with money in your hands
Ice, Nice, everything's twice as bright with money in your hands
How long have you been listening?
How long have you been listening?
Three in a row
Is your reason to go on
Spending your money
You've been here before
You've spent a lot more
This makes it less funny
How long have you been listening?
How long have you been listening?
Just a few feet away
Just a little to pay
You thought you were cured
Now you've been lured here
Face your own desire
To this smiling toy
Which brings you the joy
No harm just to enquire
Ice, Nice, everything's twice as bright with money in your hands
(repeat)
How long have you been listening?
(repeat)
Just a few feet away
Just a little to pay

Cover art for Ice Nice lyrics by Saga

This is a haunting little song, a magnificent example of late 1970s Moog synth-based progressive rock. The first part sounds like the soundtrack of a suspense movie, perhaps portraying a museum robbery... but the subject is, at least in my opinion, about somebody addicted to gambling, or to slot machines, at least. I do suspect that Jim Crichton, the song's author, is being decidedly obtuse and ambiguous as to not give the real subject away. The second part has a nice synth solo; the song speeds up to one of Saga's by now legendary synth + guitar epic endings.
