Long Goodbye Lyrics
I have seen my future die
My whole past as well
That hurricane she knew my name
And tonight just feels like hell
You left me
Wanting
So much more
When your love has gone away
It's a long goodbye
Sometimes I see you dancing there
In the fading light
But when I look again you've gone
The poppies all run wild
You left me
Wanting
So much more
When your love has gone away
It's a long goodbye
I screamed with the wind
I howled at the rain
I even prayed
But nothing I do and nothing I say
Will bring you back again
A thousand questions never asked
I'm left wondering why
So many secrets never shared
Guess I'll keep them 'til I die
You left me
Wanting
So much more
When your love has gone away
It's a long goodbye
My whole past as well
That hurricane she knew my name
And tonight just feels like hell
Wanting
So much more
When your love has gone away
It's a long goodbye
In the fading light
But when I look again you've gone
The poppies all run wild
Wanting
So much more
When your love has gone away
It's a long goodbye
I howled at the rain
I even prayed
But nothing I do and nothing I say
Will bring you back again
I'm left wondering why
So many secrets never shared
Guess I'll keep them 'til I die
Wanting
So much more
When your love has gone away
It's a long goodbye

When the song was released it was reported on MTV and VH1 that this song was written because Alannah had lost both her child and her mother on the same day.
So sad. Songs of Loss. "Guess I'll keep them 'til I die.." makes me want to die... or have another beer. Reminds me of "Paint it Black" by the Rolling Stones. ".. I see a line of cars and they're all painted black, with flowers and my love both never to come back..." Oh, where did my hope in Christ fade off to... B23 would have been sweet but life drags on...
