Could it be that they are actually very much in love, but are trying their hardest not to fall in love (because of the pain that love can bring ... or at least the ending of love).
Or alternatively is this about sex (and not love)?? "It's hot inside" ... could it be implying when they have sex she feels hot inside (literally)? Thus, trying to convince themselves that they are not in love (only sex).
The "no, no, no" .... line sounds very much like someone on the brink too!
I think it's about a situation like friends with benefits, or a string of one night stands where the singer has begun to fall in love. However, he thinks or knows that his partner doesn't feel the same way, so he's trying to convince himself. Saying that he "won't give you my heart, no one lives there anymore" means that he's pushed others away because he wants to be with this person, but he knows that "They're lovers, and could never be friends". He means lovers in a sense that they have a sexual relationship and make love, not in a way that they are together. Therefore he's trying to convince himself that he's not inlove, and that only the sex matters. "It's hot inside, isn't that enough?" Is him telling himself the sex is enough. At the end he says "No, no, no, no, no" echoed by the voice of another saying "It's hot inside", which reflects that she is only there for the sex but the singer wants more. But in the end, she is not in love, so he can't be in love.
