Piece of Pie Lyrics
Yeah, yeah
I broke the breadline nobody knows
I walked the front line still got far to go
I mixed the water I drank the water
I broke the breadline
Don't wanna know
Yeah, yeah
It's staring me down
Wearing a crown of apathy
I'm standing around
Dressed like a clown
Don't know my name you know where to find me
I killed the manchild I'll fast alone
I had the midwife naked and alone
I mixed the water I drank the water
I killed the brainchild I'll fast alone
Yeah, yeah, yeah
It's staring me down
Wearing a crown of apathy
I'm standing around
Dressed like a clown
Don't know my name you know where to find me, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah don't wanna let me be a man
Yeah, yeah don't wanna lead me to your home
Don't wanna lead me to your home
Yeah, yeah, yeah
It's staring me down
Wearing a crown of apathy
I'm standing around
Dressed like a clown
Don't know my name you know where to find me
I killed the manchild
I had the midwife
I drank the water
I stand alone
I broke the breadline
I walked the front-line
Don't know my name you know where to find me
Yeah, yeah
Don't wanna let me be a man
Yeah, yeah don't wanna lead me to your home
Yeah, yeah don't wanna let me be a man
Yeah, yeah don't wanna lead me to your home

You guys are silly. This song isn't about mass murder or war or serial killers or anything like that. The song is about being rejected by society for being who you are. It's about living life in the fast lane, and having the balls to "mix the water" and "walk the front line". Basically, everything he says in the song is just a metaphor for being a badass who doesn't give a f*ck. "I BROKE THE BREADLIIIIIIIIINNNNNEEE!" Awesome. =)
ok so whos gonna be a hero and tell us what the song is really about?
and that "I killed the manchild" thing, I get it as losing innocence... the same innocence we have when we're kids
I think this song is about how Scott refuses to live up to the male stereotype. "Piece of Pie" is a reference to men always getting what they want, especially in terms of women. Sometimes, vagina is referred to as "pie."
All of the lyrics "I broke the breadline, I walked the frontline, I've had the midwife..." are all boasts that the typical male stereotype will make, like "Yeah, I'm the fucking shit, no one can take me down!"
In the chorus (It's staring me down), Scott is trying to deny the stereotype. "Dressed like a clown" is either him trying to be something he isn't or accepting that he may be thought of as a wimp for not buying in the stereotypical male role.
Scott is refusing to be the male chauvinist, even going so far as to say "Don't wanna let me be a man".
When he says "Don't wanna take me to your home" , he's telling a girl that he's better than just using her to fuck.
Wow I can't beleive no one understands this song. Skychasernyc is much closer than anyone though. This song is obviously influenced by Scott's drug addictions and maybe also people he knew like this. "It's staring me down." His physical crave for substances. "It's wearing a crown of apathy." People this deep into drugs spend all their money on it and sell all their stuff there for leading to an apathetic existence. "I'm standing around, dressed like a clown. Don't know my name, but know where to find me." If you ever lived in the city and hung out odds are you met these people. The homeless drug attic drunks who are always in the same places around town. Standing around cause hes got no job or home. Hes dressed like a clown cause hes either strung out, burnt out, or withdrawing and has no care of what he wears or how unkept he is. You don't know his name cause you don't care to, but every once in awhile you find him to get pointed in the direction for a bag of weed or what ever. He thinks hes a badass rebel but hes a clown. Come on the best clowns i ever met were drunken attic bums. SOOOO amusing lol. murderers and post war vets ROFL xD
@L30xD Great comment but maybe have some sympathy for the vets =)

As great as the vocals are, it's a "Gibberish Song". It's really not about anything but words and phrases that sound good when strung together in a song. Almost every David Lee Roth title is a gibberish song, as well as countless others. It's like a poetry art form. It just has to sound great when you sing it, it doesn't have to be about anything but it helps if it rhymes and has a strong chorus. If you've ever had no clue as to what a song is about, this is probably why. It was never about anything, it's just a song.
I have no idea what this song is about but I read on STP's site that this song is Scott Weiland's most favorite song to do live.
you know core was a great album when THIS is the worst song on it.....and its still GREAT.
if you go along with the mass murderer theory, it could possibly be about John Wayne Gacy because he actually dressed like a clown and killed. he was also notorious for his nickname "killer clown" anyway, thats just a thought
PIECE of pie. :)
