You'll Never Walk Alone Lyrics

When you walk through a storm
Hold your head up high
And don't be afraid of the dark

At the end of a storm
There's a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of a lark

Walk on through the wind
Walk on through the rain
Though your dreams be tossed and blown

Walk on, walk on
With hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone

You'll never walk alone

Walk on, walk on
With hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone

You'll never walk alone

You should hear this song when it is preformed by Livepool F.C. fans at Anfield Stadium. It truly makes your heart skip hearing a packed football stadium singing in unison. It's truly amazing.

Admittedly before many games Liverpool fans "go through the motions" with the song, but on the occasions when it is sung properly (at big games, on anniversaries of the Hillsborough Disaster etc.) it seems to sum up everything about being from Liverpool and supporting the club. It's about dignity, loyalty, defiance, love, community - basically all the positive aspects of the human character. It was a strange song to pick for a Merseybeat band - being originally from a Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, but it works so well. I also always enjoyed singing it at maximum volume during the "National" Anthem at Cup Finals to emphasise how little the Queen means to the ordinary working class football supporters of Liverpool. You'll Never Walk Alone is OUR anthem.

A select choir at my school sings this at the end of the school year. It is part of tradition during May Show. May Show is a big number where we not onyl sing, but we dance and there are skits as well. It is a sad song, especially when you are a senior because you go into the audience with a rose and you take it to your parents.

This is the anthem for the greatest football club in the world! I must agree it is awesome when you hear the entire Kop singing this together especially on those great occassions like the Champions League Final 2005 or the semi-final against Chelsea in 2007 when we won on penalties after a tense match. Fans of other clubs don't understand what it's like; this anthem just shows what a passionate, loyal and emotional following we have. it sums up our club's history and its many achievements. Forget glory, glory Man United and Leeds' Marching On Together this is THE football anthem and it's ours!
