The Last Straw Lyrics

Seaweed tangled in our home from home
Reminds me of your rocky bottom
Please don't wait for the paperweight
Err on the good side
Touch us when we collapse
Into the water we'll go head over heel
We'll not grow fat
Inside the mammary gland

Seaweed tangled in our home from home
Reminds me of your rocky bottom
Please don't wait for the paperweight
Err on the good side
Touch us when we collapse
Into the water we'll go head over heel
A head behind me
Buried deep in the sand

Cover art for The Last Straw lyrics by Robert Wyatt

This song refers to the "rock bottom" he hit after his accident (falling out of a window and breaking his spinal cord - confined to a wheelchair since). This entire album is some of the most moving music around, with especially overwhelming keyboards. And Wyatt's voice... to die for.

@inpraiseoffolly that isn't true actually. Wyatt started working on Rock Bottom before his accident, he had the idea of a marine-themed album, and this song, together with Sea Song (obviously) was written before the accident while in Italy. he wrote rest of the album was wriiten in the hospital, while recovering.
