So Lonely Lyrics
The street with my girl
I get a funny feeling
When I see you out with my girl
I get so lonely without you
I get so lonely for you
And now I realize you're not mine
I know I just can't think
Of anything to do with my time
I get so lonely without you
Oh I'm waiting (Oh I'm waiting yes I'm waiting)
Waiting (Oh I'm waiting yes I'm waiting)
For your loving
To keep me satisfied forever
To keep me satisfied forever
Just her right on back to my arms
And then we'll start anew
And know that we never will part
I get so lonely without you
I get so lonely for you
I want to like this song but the problem is inconsistency in the lyrics as to whom is being addressed. Is he talking to the ex-girlfriend or her new lover or both? The lyrics switch from "out with my girl" to "without you, so lonely for you" on a dime, then the last verse seems to switch to the new lover again. Is there some kind of strange threesome dynamic at work or a same-sex/male-bonding thing? Has the girlfriend been stolen away by another old girlfriend into a girl/girl relationship? Seeing that this record is from 1965, when such things were left unspoken, it seems unlikely this is a record which is based on a complicated relationship. It more likely this amateurishness is a result of green songwriters and not any intentional shift in dialogue. Shame, it had real potential.
