It's 8AM, this hell I'm in
Seems I've crossed the line again
For being nothing more than who I am
So break my bones
And throw your stones
We all know that life ain't fair
But there is more of us, we're everywhere
We don't have to take this
Back against the wall
We don't have to take this
We can end it all
All you'll ever be
Is a fading memory of a bully
Make another joke
While they hang another rope so lonely
Push them to the dirt
Until the words don't hurt, can you hear me
No one's going to cry
On the very day you die, your a bully
Think it through you can't undo
Whenever I see black and blue
I feel the past, I share the bruise
With everyone who's come and gone
My head is clear, my voice is strong
Now I'm right here to right the wrong
We don't have to take this
Back against the wall
We don't have to take this
We can end it all
All you'll ever be
Is a fading memory of a bully
Make another joke
While they hang another rope so lonely
Push them to the dirt
Until the words don't hurt, can you hear me
No one's going to cry
On the very day you die, your a bully
It's 8AM
The hell I'm in
Your voice is strong
Now right the wrong
All you'll ever be

The meaning is pretty clear cut,but it's still a very powerful song. The line that really gets me every time is, "It seems I've crossed the line again for being nothing more than who I am."
This song is really good and I used it to get throught the hard times I was getting bullied. I hope it works this good for other people!
It's 'push THEM to the dirt' not him, but otherwise spot-on. Though it would have been better to put the prechorus at the end in parenthesis.
Love the song.
Ahem, it should be "you're a bully". "Your" is possessive.
This is a really good song. I love the message.
I agree dragonizer. This is a great song with an awesome message.
The lines: "Your voice is strong Now right the wrong"
is the right direction... people should be speaking out more against it... being a bully or not is a choice.
Read about them on a dutch news site where there was an article about them (for those who can read Dutch, or want to have a laugh with some translation software: http://www.nu.nl/muziek/2774711/shinedown-zet-pestkoppen-kijk.html) The essence of the song is in the video interview, and I stand completely understand him, I fought my fights in the past to stand up to my bullies, and my father did about the same as his father; he showed me how to fight as a last resort.
Thus song means so much to me and probably many others. The message is just so great.
Clearly the narrator is a student who is very popular and getting along well with his peers among whom he is well received.
Hey, this is the actual, official, lyrics

I think there is a bigger overall message to this song. I think this song is about the government being a bully to all of the little people. Thats why they all chant when he says "we don't have to take this, we can end it all!' (overthrow the government) If you listen to the song with those thoughts in mind then it seems to make alot of sense
