Dead Oaks Lyrics

I can’t feel your bones, but I can see them,
and I can’t call you up without a reason.

I can take a thousand miles and I can drive for hours
to your house in the summer, but I could stay for longer if you wanted me to.

I’ve been up and I don’t sleep enough,
and I know we don’t talk as much but I can hear you still.

I’ve been up and I don’t sleep enough,
and I know we don’t talk as much
but I can hear your voice on the phone when you’re up all alone in your room.

‘Cause I am up too.

I love this song so much. And this band is just amazing.

Anyway this song sounds like it's about her liking someone who maybe doesn't feel the same. Or maybe they used to be lovers, but they're not anymore.

I definitely think this song is about liking somebody who doesn't reciprocate the feelings.

However, I don't think the muse knows how she feels, as indicated by "I can't call you up without a reason" (they aren't close enough for her to simply call and have a conversation) and a little bit by "but I could stay for longer, if you wanted me to" (it's tacked on at the end, as if the words are awkwardly rushing out as an after thought in an attempt to play it cool).

I just get the sense that she reallllly likes this guy, and he's completely oblivious. I love it.

This song is by the band Now, Now, not Now, Now Every Children. Two different bands.

Same band, new name.
