Long Haired Redneck Lyrics
Country DJ's knows that I'm an outlaw.
They'd never come to see me in this dive.
Where bikers stare at cowboys, who are laughen' at the hippies.
Who are prayen' they'll get out of here alive.
The loudmouth in the corners gett'en to me.
Talkin' bout my earrings and my hair.
I guess he ain't read the sigh that says I've been to prison.
Someone aught to warn him for I knock him off his chair.
Cause my long hair just can't cover up my redneck.
And I've won every fight I've ever fought.
And I don't need some turkey telling me that I ain't country.
Sayin' I ain't worth the damn ole ticket that he bought.
Cause I can sing all them songs about Texas.
And I still do all the sad ones that I know.
They tell me I look like Merle Haggard.
And I sound alot like David Allan Coe.
And the barmaid in the last town that we played in.
Knew the words to every song I'd wrote.,
She said Jimmy Rabbit turnd her on to my last album.
Just about the time the jukebox broke.
Yeah, Johnny Cash helped me get out of prison.
Long before Rodriquez stole that goat.
I've been the Rhinestone Cowboy for so long I can't remember.
And I can do you every song Hank Williams ever wrote.
And I can sing all them songs about Texas.
And I still do all the sad ones that I know.
Can't help it I look like Merle Haggard.
And sound alot like David Allan Coe.
But these country DJ's all think I'm an outlaw.
They never come to see me in this dive.
Where bikers stare at cowboys who are laughen' at the hippies.
Who are prayen' they'll get out of here alive.
Hey loudmouth in the corner is gett'en to me.

This is a true to life song written by Coe. True to his life. He is a real outlaw, with time in state prison under his belt. Johnny Cash had bailed him out of jail on more than one occasion, and so has Merle Haggard at least once. He always played in run down little places or "dives" if you will. Coe is a real big dude, 6'8", or somewhere around there, and he likes to drink and fight. He's probably one of the most dangerous people in the music industry, period. He'd just trying to say in this song, regardless of what he looks like, or does, he's as country as they get, and don't mess with him. ,
@coldironshackles Yeah, I understand all that. But who is Rodriguez? What goat?
