Boom! There She Was Lyrics
The Tupamaros got a platinum card (all right)
I got a heart of gold and it's time to get hard (and I like it)
A Moto Guzzi I gotta way to get rich (all right)
I gotta library and a seven day itch (and I like It)
I got money oh I got around but my life was going nowhere
I was looking for love and I want your love baby love
When you gonna get me Boom! there she was
I was looking for love and I want your love baby love
When you gonna get me Boom! there she was - for me
The Tupamaros an immutable truth (all right)
I got a razor blade an' a beautiful youth (and I like it)
A Moto Guzzi an' a Gaultier pants (all right)
I got a reason girl was Immanuel Kant's (and I like it)
Pharmacopoeia I got a way with the word (all right)
I got an' alphabet that you never have heard (and I like it)
(Looking for love now)(Are you looking for me)
(I'm looking for love now)(Wanted to get you girl
I got a heart of gold and it's time to get hard (and I like it)
A Moto Guzzi I gotta way to get rich (all right)
I gotta library and a seven day itch (and I like It)

I know these guys were big libs, but based upon the comment about the Platinum card etc. that they were disillusioned by at least some of the liberal causes. Rich idealists not knowing what to believe in. Now he is looking for a woman's love to solve his problems and fill his emptiness. It won't work though. Only God can fill that missing piece in our lives and give us meaning.
@eeeeeeek You've really misinterpreted the reason of the song. It could be as you are not a fan and know Green Gartside from the DIY punk days. You possibly may be unaware that he is English as well. It's not his personal view, but a story about a rich man who had it all but was missing "the One" in his life to give it all some meaning. Again, it's only a story in a song, as told by many of our ancestors....just in the setting of modern society. Your personal view that a god can give any meaning doesn't...

It's not his personal view, but a story about a rich man who had it all but was missing "the One" in his life to give it all some meaning. Again, it's only a story in a song, as told by many of our ancestors....just in the setting of modern society. Your personal view that a god can give any meaning doesn't mean everyone feels the same nor believe that a sky fairy can enrich their lives. Many couple are enriched with their significant other and religion doesn't even come into the equation. Without researching who the people are in the group, and their stories, your comment is shallow and baseless, but understood it's merely only your opinion. The 80's was a decade of excess and the songs were a reflection of the times. If you see other pieces, their music is a reflection of the times, not a biography.
