You Raise Me Up Lyrics
When I am down, and oh my soul, so weary;
When troubles come and my heart burdened be;
Then I am still and wait here in the silence,
Until you come and sit awhile with me.
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up, to more than I can be.
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up, to more than I can be.
There is no life - no life without its hunger;
Each restless heart beats so imperfectly;
But when you come and I am filled with wonder,
Sometimes, I think I glimpse eternity.
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up, to more than I can be.
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong when I am on your shoulders
You raise me up, to more than I can be.
You raise me up, to more than I can be.
When troubles come and my heart burdened be;
Then I am still and wait here in the silence,
Until you come and sit awhile with me.
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up, to more than I can be.
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up, to more than I can be.
Each restless heart beats so imperfectly;
But when you come and I am filled with wonder,
Sometimes, I think I glimpse eternity.
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up, to more than I can be.
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong when I am on your shoulders
You raise me up, to more than I can be.

My second favorite version behind the origial's (Secret Garden). Beautiful song. Very spiritual, although if you're not Christian (or pay homage to anyone higher than yourself) than the song could have secular meaning. It's a song I listen to whenever I'm feeling very down. It is soothing, and Russell's voice is incredibly beautiful.
Great song. Very spiritual for many listeners. Most people let us down from time-to-time, but God is forever present and forever knowing. Russell's voice is excellent.

There should be no question marks in the song. Russell sings with conviction and promise. He has no doubt. Russell's version is my favorite, followed by Secret Garden's version, which is the original. This song may not be a spiritual for every listener, but it was written with that intent. The ear will hear what it wishes to hear, though, and that's what makes music so pliable and thus emotionally moving.
