This song to me laments (beautifully) how humans surrender to delusions, specifically religion.
While religions and their texts and stories are pure fiction, we yearn for them to be true with such fervour, that we choose to forget that they are our own invention (
forgetting they put it there'), and take it to be devine revelation instead (something that fell from the sky').This song also ties in with the lyrics of "Wonder" which is also about an atheistic idea, namely that the miracle of this world can be marvelled without religiousness, that humility before creation does not require the presumption a creator.
