Hit me, hit me, hit me, hit me,
Hit me where you want it, hit me where you want it,
Hit me where you want it, hit me where you want it,
Hit me, hit me, hit me, hit me,
Hit me where you want it and I’ll take the blame
Hit me and I guarantee you’ll feel the same
Hit me if you think that it will help the pain
Hit me, hit me, hit me, hit me any way

3 minutes then I’m out of here
3 words if you say it I’m staying
3 hours I’ll sit here with no sleep
Contemplating all the things I should keep
So hold on just a second while my back is turned
In a second every lie was learned
3 years and those seconds we shared

Hit me, hit me, hit me, hit me,
Hit me where you want it and I’ll take the blame
Hit me and I guarantee you’ll feel the same
Hit me if you think that it will help the pain
Hit me, hit me, hit me, hit me any way
Hit me where you want it and I’ll take the blame
Hit me and I guarantee you’ll feel the same
Hit me if you think that it will help the pain
Hit me, hit me, hit me, hit me any way

Only lonely when I stand by you
You kept on leaning while I stood for two
Two words make a pointless apology

I see the fire in your eyes
But weigh in closer now it burns, yeah
I hold a candle for you now
One puff and the smoke covers everything
One puff and the smoke covers everything
One puff and the smoke covers everything

Hit me where you want it and I’ll take the blame
Hit me and I guarantee you’ll feel the same
Hit me if you think that it will help the pain
Hit me, hit me, hit me, hit me any way
Hit me where you want it and I’ll take the blame
Hit me and I guarantee you’ll feel the same
Hit me if you think that it will help the pain
Hit me, hit me, hit me, hit me any way
Hit me where you want it
Hit me where you want it
Hit me where you want it

Hit me where you want it and I’ll take the blame
Hit me and I guarantee you’ll feel the same
Hit me if you think that it will help the pain
Hit me, hit me, hit me, hit me any way

I’ve got smoke in my eyes, hit me one more time
I’ve got smoke in my eyes

    Translation

    Sounds like an abusive relationship.

"Hit me where you want it and I’ll take the blame", she's willing to be hit by her lover and take the blame for whatever reason her significant other (he?) thinks she did wrong.

"Hit me and I guarantee you’ll feel the same", she knows that when he hits her, he's not only hurting her, but hurting himself by doing so.

"Hit me if you think that it will help the pain", he's probably hitting her to make him feel better about himself. She's saying if you think it will really help your pain, then hit me.

"3 minutes then I’m out of here 3 words if you say it I’m staying", she says she'll leave him, but if he tells her that he loves her (the three words "I love you") she can't help but stay with him.

"3 hours I’ll sit here with no sleep Contemplating all the things I should keep", she can't sleep, she's too busy contemplating leaving. 'Should I leave? Maybe if I leave in the middle of the night I could finally get away, what should I take with me?' (this one was a long shot, but I feel it's something like that). "So hold on just a second while my back is turned", she's turning her back on him, literally and figuratively, keeping her distance. She's also turning her back on him in bed. Probably contemplating leaving him.

"In a second every lie was learned 3 years and those seconds we shared", every time he said he 'loved' her he probably promised he wouldn't hit her again. And of course, he always did. He lied, and she soon found out. But deep down she knew they were lies, so they both shared those lies for three years.

"Only lonely when I stand by you", she feels she is now more lonely being with him, than she was when she was single.

"You kept on leaning while I stood for two", a relationship is a two-way street, but she feels she's the only one who's supporting both of them.

"Two words make a pointless apology", his two word apologies ("I'm sorry"), are becoming pointless every time he says it and then does the same thing over and over and over again.

"In a second every lie was learned 3 years and those seconds we shared" Coming back to this, it works vise-verse, she promised she would stay, which initially she did, but she thought about it everyday, leaving him in her head. Until three years pass and she finally leaves him. (possibly?)

"I see the fire in your eyes", she sees his rage, his anger.

As for the rest, I'm unsure of. A few of these were stretched speculations, but it's what I've thought. I'm interested in hearing what others think/ have to say.

It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness.
