All That We Are Lyrics

The ice is really cold, the streetlights really old
Her child's all alone, as she melts into her own
And slowly fades away, into a river full of shame
But at least numb to the pain

Can you see it?
Can you feel the shallow wave?
From a needle to the grave
From our hell to faraway

Your my only
You're so sad my valentine
On your journey to the light
But first straight to the fire

And we are
All that we are
Holding on until we fall apart
And we are
All that we are
Holding on until we fall apart
And we are
All that we are
Holding on until we fall apart
And we are
All that we are
Holding on until we fall apart
And we are
All that we are, All that we are
All that we are, All That we are
All That we are, All That we are
All that we are, All that we are

This song is about a single mother living on the streets overdosing from a drug injection.

"The ice is really cold The street light's really old" <-- setting the scene

"A child's all alone As she melts into her own And slowly fades away" <-- leaving behind her child as she passed away

"Into a river full of shame But at least numb to the pain" <-- the shame of addiction and homelessness, but numbed by her las high as she overdoses

"Can you see it? Can you feel the shadow wave From a needle to the grave From her hell to far away" <-- waves of the opioids as they move through her veins and brings about her death

"You're my only You're so sad, my valentine On your journey to the light But first straight to the fire" <-- the tragedy of her lonely death, and an allusion to heaven and hell

Such an incredible song, and a fitting end to the L☽∀E albums! Gives me chills every time.
