I Have an Idea Lyrics

You wake up everyday with the same black bird in mind
and I’d like to see you tickled pink;
hear you hum yourself to sleep.
Over and over and over they’ll say,
“Well he was quite a catching twenty-two but then, he wouldn’t die for you.”

I wake up everyday a startled bird in the backyard and my
heavy, halfway open eyes
halfway apprehend the light.
Over and over, it’s over, and I have an idea:
Let’s bury your letters with the bird in the backyard.

I wake up everyday hopelessly devoted
and I’ve nothing but a feathered aching
migrating through the day.
Overhead, over and over it sways:
Could we tape up our lashes and change…from the backyard?

Help me tape up my lashes.
Here’s a new book about what I am not yet.
Let’s change. Here,
help me tape up my lashes.
Here’s a new book about what I am not yet.
Let’s change. Please,
help me tape up my lashes.
Here’s a new book about what I am not yet.
Let’s change. Well...

it was just an idea.
