Wonder Years Lyrics
I'm not trying to be cool
I only want to be kind
I know that I've
Pissed you off
Babe I better rewind
But I'm not yours
And you're not mine
No I'm not OK
But I guess I'm doing fine
Jealous lovers left behind
Wonder years passed me by
Far away but still on the mind
Think of you from time to time
But I'm not yours
And you're not mine
No I'm not OK
But I guess I'm doing fine
Doo Doo Doo
I only want to be kind
Pissed you off
Babe I better rewind
And you're not mine
No I'm not OK
But I guess I'm doing fine
Wonder years passed me by
Think of you from time to time
And you're not mine
No I'm not OK
But I guess I'm doing fine

We had our chance, it should've worked out- we could've been great, but it didn't. It's about coming to terms with the things you've let go or the things that didn't work out. Your not "OK" but it's not the end of the world, your still "fine".
Sounds like he is reminiscing on a past relationship. It took place during what he deems his "wonder years." He and the girl didn't stay together and he often thinks back on the relationship. He's not terribly heartbroken, just sounds like he wouldn't mind if things had worked out.
'But I'm not yours And you're not mine'
kills me.
The song is about running into a girl you used to date and the feelings the encounter provokes. The first half of the song makes it sound like the meeting starts off a little rocky: the girl accuses him of trying to play it cool around her, and he backtracks a bit, though he also points out that they no longer have mutual ownership and he doesn't owe her anything. The rest of the song sounds like he's reminiscing after the run-in, and although he's mostly reconciled that things didn't work out, he can't let go of the nostalgia attached to the period in his life when he was with her.
A really great, subdued song. It's a great track and it's cool that the Alex Bleeker, the bassist, took over the vocals for this one.
Heartbreaking song. I wonder if people actually stay in your mind after so many years and feelings don't fade away...
It's a song about thinking about someone you miss who you still have romantic feelings for (maybe an ex, maybe just someone you'd wanted to be with). "Wonder Years" is a reference to the 1980s (set in 1960s) sitcom, one of the big themes of the series was the nostalgically depicted romance between Kevin and Winnie which didn't work out.
Fun fact: In their Twitter Q&A session, when asked what their favorite television shows were growing up, they listed The Wonder Years (and also DuckTales -- big surprise).
