For me this song is about nature overriding and surviving us all through a process of regeneration. Whilst everything within our heads stays the same, nature is forever changing and renewing things, even after we're long gone.

I hear this song and think of a love lost. She has died and he is sitting on the porch remembering their life together and has accepted that his kingdom was only meant to last for a time. He knows she never appreciated the view from where he sits as much as he does, but in his grief, the place where they used to sit is a piece of her memory that he feels close to in this moment. There is a warmth in this song that comforts my soul.

I feel like this song is about his first love that he met in Devon hence the west winds reference, he has to leave Devon and therefore his love. It's a song about leaving love and leaving someone you need but that you have to leave. Sad but necessary

the way i see this song is that a girl has just left him and he's left sitting in his house and everything around him is the same except the fact that she isnt there, he feels like the world is forcing him to move on because no it feels like it never happened. i think this whole song is basically a break-up song with a bit of a twist
