Lolita Lyrics
One, one
Would you be mine, would you be my baby tonight
Could be kissing my fruit punch lips in the bright sunshine
Cause I like you quite a lot, everything you got don't you know
It's you that I adore, though I make the boys fall like dominoes
Kiss me in the d.a.r.k. dark tonight
D.a.r.k. do it my way
Kiss me in the p.a.r.k. park tonight
P.a.r.k. let them all say
Hey lolita, hey
Hey lolita, hey
I know what the boys want, I'm not gonna play
Hey lolita, hey
Hey lolita, hey
Whistle all you want but I'm not gonna say
No more skipping rope, skipping heart beats with the boys downtown
Just you and me feelin the heat even when the sun goes down
I could be yours, I could be your baby tonight
Topple you down from your sky forty stories high
Shining like a god, can't believe I got you and so
Look at what I bought, not a second thought, oh romeo
Kiss me in the d.a.r.k. dark tonight
D.a.r.k. do it my way
Kiss me in the p.a.r.k. park tonight
P.a.r.k. let them all say
Hey lolita, hey
Hey lolita, hey
I know what the boys want, I'm not gonna play
Hey lolita, hey
Hey lolita, hey
Whistle all you want but I'm not gonna say
No more skipping rope, skipping heart beats with the boys downtown
Just you and me feelin the heat even when the sun goes down
I want my cake and I want to eat it too
I want to have fun and be in love with you
I know that I'm a mess with my long hair and my suntan, short dress, bare
Feet
I don't care what they say about me, what they say about me
Because I know that it's L.O.V.E.
You make me happy, you make me happy
And I'll never listen to anyone...
Let them all say
Hey lolita, hey
Hey lolita, hey
I know what the boys want, I'm not gonna play
Hey lolita, hey

LOLITA*** not lolyta...
No, it's *LOLYTA
No, it's *LOLYTA
Lana Del Rey's title of the song is "LOLYTA" - she likes to change the spelling of some of her songs, it makes them more personal.

Actually, KayceeSparks, you're an idiot. It's L-O-L-I-T-A. That's what it says on her album, in iTunes, on Amazon, on her website, etc. She didn't change the spelling of it.

Lolyta is on her first album "Lana Del Ray a.k.a. Lizzy Grant," whereas on Born To Die Deluxe Version, it's spelt Lolita. Lolyta also has a different intro. And yes, I know I wrote Del Ray, that's how it's spelt on that album.

It's spelled Lolita on her new Born To Die Album. So...
'Lolyta' was originally released on her first album in 2010 She put it on born to die as 'lolita'.. its a slightly more produced version. i prefer the original. still a catchy song though

Lana Del Rey likes Lolita. The novel - by Vladamir Nabokov (about a middle aged guy who becomes obsessed with a 12 year old girl). She references Lolita in Off to the Races - "Light of my life, fire of my loins - as well. Early demos were called Lolyta. No big deal, just a minor spelling change. It means the same thing.
Also, isn't it "no more skipping heart beats with the boys downtown" instead of "never was in love, skipping heart beats with the boys downtown? Maybe the album version is different, because I haven't heard earlier demos. But in the album it's "no more".
older guy who becomes obsessed with young girl? sounds a little TOO familiar... I gotta go check that book out.

it's no more skipping rope... and it sounds the same on both versions, but like I don't rely listen to(anyone)the old version so maybe I'm wrong...

Yeah, I goofed a verse about skipping hearts. Think that's fixed now.
Spelling was as of the prior version, when indeed, it was 'Lana Del Ray.' "Lolyta" was what had been distributed, although, the album version has changed some.

I do like the older version better..

Why do people romanticize this character, she was only 12. I wish people would stop romanticizing school aged kids and innocence, it's getting old. As for the song, I think it's about an underage girl who is pretty and the boys her own age show interest in her but she's already taken up by an older man so she ignores those boys. That's my reasoning for the use of the name Lolita and the almost creepy beat of the music.
did she miss the part in the book where lolita is a twelve year old girl and humbert humbert is a pedophile who kidnaps and rapes her???
oh wait... that was the whole book...
...you DO realize that there's such thing as artistic interpretation, right? If she were just summarizing Lolita, that would make a pretty boring song.

Also, Lana did state her songs were autobiographical. She's not actually talking about Lolita, more like she's using Lolita as a rendition of her own life.

well yeah, that's true, but this seems more like a stockholm syndrome-y version of that

One of my faves. Luv the novel as well.
I thought Lolita was supposed to be 15 in the book?
@captainizer_ lolita was 12 in the classic novel but in the 1997 movie her age was changed to 14 so it was more acceptable
