I really like this song. I think its about finding a way back to your loved one

Most people don't know this, but Of Monsters And Men were contracted to write the theme song for The Gray starring Liam Neeson.

For inspiration, they often reference random stories they’ve read. The chanting, tribal “Six Weeks” was inspired by the true tale of American frontiersman Hugh Glass, seemingly left for dead after 86ing a bear that attacked him. [This is the part that I'm iffiest on actually. I don't want to force a meaning here in order to fit my interpretation below.]

[This is where it begins to seem clear to me. A person (could be a guy; doesn't have to be) goes through a day in the life fighting all the struggles that come with human life. There are good days, bad days, average and forgettable days; no matter the case, it takes will to march forward in life, as nothing is never "easy".]

A wolf, wolf and I, We share the same cold meal. I float on, float on down. We ride, we ride, we ride We ride it all out.

[Right above the singer says he fights alone. Here he says "wolf and I." But the wolf is an animal that's often symbolic of being a very solitary, but very strong and smart animal that is completely independent and successful in life. He knows he's not invincible, but is also very intelligent in that it knows what it needs to do to survive and thrive.

The wolf and the human are the same thing in this case.

They share the same cold meal. The "cold meal" is the important part to me here. On those bad days in life, you feel down. There's many different emotions that can lead to this feeling in the end (grief, anger, boredom, stress, etc.), but you almost always (99.99% of people do, in some way) get through it. It's a cold meal, not preferred but you will live another day.

[The new voice can either mean a new person or something more abstract, such as a thought. It can also be the same person, but acting differently now. The fighting becomes tiresome. [The parts at the beginning almost seem like make more sense at the end. But then, considering this entire thing is about the cycle of everyday living, the song can begin whenever it wants, as there is no real beginning and end in life (not even through birth and death.]

Did I read far too into this? Probably. Doesn't make me wrong though.

I really don't know anything much, so

I really want to say that this is about the Rape of Nanking when Japan spent six weeks raping, murdering, and causing chaos in the streets of Nanking, China.

The singer is referring to the Japanese as animals.. since SE Asia hated Japan. The singer is retreating to animal behaviors resulting from this terrifying warfare.

To me, this song symbolizes building a robot in First Robotics Competition. Six weeks is the deadline for a robot to be built.

First verse: Let go, that means to forget my doubts and to get designing. Ditto on "Slow me down." her blood on my bones: reffering to the fact of someone doubting and staining your skeletal idea.

Second verse: The young waiting alone reffers to the robot ideas in your head not being written down. Shake the rust means get working.

Third verse(?): The wolf sharing the meal reffers to all the time spent working on the robot, so you eat a bag of chips and are working on the robot. We ride reffers to the fact that your working on the problems, but they take time to fix, so you ride out the long hours.

Alone I fight these animals means that you are not in contact with civilization for a few hours, fighting glitches and doubts, as well as members of your team.
