I think this is about a guy who senses that his lover is keeping something from him, but he doesn't wanna push for answers because he wants to stay naive. He has plausible deniability as long as the truth doesn't come out, but he's increasingly afraid that his relationship is gonna fall apart because the truth looms and he knows it's something he won't be able to forgive.
