Kindness Lyrics

If you're so kind can you let down your hand?
Can you let down your hand if you're so kind?
If you're so strong can you shelter the weak?
Will you listen as the strangers speak?
Bring them calm?

Kindness don't ask for much but an open mind
Kindness can cure a broken heart
Honey, I ain't feeling kind

Do you believe in love?
Do you believe in love?

If you're so kind can you let down your hand?
Will you try and understand when it goes wrong?
Days come and gone and it's been said and been done
I will shelter you with my love and my forgiveness

Kindness don't ask for much but an open mind
Kindness can cure a broken heart
Honey, I ain't feeling kind

Do you believe in love?
Do you believe in love?

Kindness don't ask for much but an open mind
Kindness can cure a broken heart
Honey, I ain't feeling kind

Do you believe in love?
Do you believe in love?

I think it's about how far off track a human can get, in the absence of love, that most basic of our sentiments --- without receiving, and being able to receive affection, appreciation, acceptance, we can get so cold and hard inside, and feel so distant from life and other people. And that can feel terminal. But that can all be turned around, melted, in just a moment or two, by the right gesture, the right words or the right touch from the right person. It can all come flooding back, with just a little kindness.

I think this song is about a guy forgiving a girl for cheating on him. "Kindness can cure a broken heart" and "I will shelter you with my love and forgiveness" are the lines to look at in particular.
