I love this song!!!...but, i can't understand what it talks about? knots in her heart?...is she heart-broken? . . . .
I think it has something to do with being so love sick, you get lost in it. like a drowing sense, and she's forgetting herself. like when she sings "in my high heels and my old dress with my new keys in the wrong city" it sounds like it misplaces her. yet she's tying the knots, marriage possibly? or maybe a forget-me-not knot? either way, i love this song! so catchy!
I think you're spot on except I don't think knots refers to marriage at all. More of that she's putting reminders of the past in her heart, which make her choke and sputter to a stop. I think we can all agree with this line, as I know I have moments where the moments of my past take me for a whirl.

She said in an interview that this song is about what they call "The Fear" in Ireland. It is basically the feeling of anxiety that you get after a night of heavy drinking where you don't remember exactly what happened.
