Book of Revelation Lyrics
Oh let it begin
Let it begin
Let it begin
[x2]
Oh darling
You are the son of an evil man
I know you hate yourself
But you’re nothing like him
And it’s over now
You can pick yourself off the ground
Cause you’re cool now
And you’re nothing like him
I’ve seen the world
And there’s no heaven and there’s no hell
I’ve seen the world
And there’s no heaven and there’s no hell
And I believe
That when we die, we die
So let me love you tonight
Let me love you tonight
[x2]
Oh let it begin
Let it begin
Let it begin
[x2]
Oh you are a pretty thing
But you’re full of fear
Well, not here
No never here
You can love them
You can hate them
You never wronged them
So you don’t owe them
I’ve seen the world
And there’s no heaven and there’s no hell
I’ve seen the world
And there’s no heaven and there’s no hell
And I believe
That when we die, we die
So let me love you tonight
Let me love you tonight
[x2]
You can love them
You can hate them
You never wronged them
So you don’t owe them
[x4]
And I believe
That when we die, we die
So let me love you tonight
Let me love you tonight
[x2]
Let it begin
Let it begin
[x2]

Its the introduction to the album portamento. They welcome you into the album.
Its an interpretation on what his view on religion is. He believes that you need to make the most of life. He speaks of a girl who is influenced by her father or "religion". He tells the girl to learn for herself and create freedom for her own well being.
I think this song is about someone who is gay and comes from a super religious family. This person is denying his love but his lover is trying to reassure him that he doesn't have to feel like he is betraying his family.
You don't owe them ... let me love you tonight.
I think this is about a girl he knows who's dad maybe had extreme / harmful religious views that has made her "full of fear" Also the guy is saying he feels he witnessed enough to know that there's no afterlife so we should just live for the moment
Another great song from the Drums. Looking at the lyrics, it seems to be a child leaving their suffocating religious family. I think there is also someone involved, probably a boyfriend, who encouraged this. \n\nTo my (very limited knowledge), the book of revelation is about apocalyptic events. Many evangelical bible thumpers yell about the rapture and how we\'re all going to die and blah blah blah. I think this boy\'s transformation (for lack of better word) is being compared to the book of revelation because of how horrifying it is for both his family and who he used to be.\n\nHe learns to stop living in fear of the future and embrace this present life.
