I'm a college student and I've had several experiences like this after a night downtown at the bars. The only untold part of the story within this song is whether or not she feels the same way about him in the end. My mind was wrapped around this girl I hooked up with one night, and the only thing that enabled me to get over her was realizing she didn't feel the same way, which is why whenever I see her downtown nowadays, there's always a new guy. Funny how the human mind can mix love and infatuation so often.
A decade ago, I loved a woman who made me feel things I never felt before, or since. We made promises, and we broke them. We went our separate ways and built our own separate lives. I had no idea she would continue to haunt me, that these longings would never go away. It's far-fetched to think that our paths might cross again someday, but oh my goodness, this song is what that experience would feel like. I'm crying, can't listen any more. I would be lost.
