90 Degrees Lyrics

Ninety degrees in the shade
The shade that stretches forever
Over black everglades, crystallized
And circled with flames of the summer

I don’t know where you've been
Out on the sand with Medusa
And not busy with fighting gravity, the seducer

Go now and look out your window
Go now and look out your window
Tonight belongs to you

Ninety degrees in the shade
The shade that's woven around us
Woven over and out, outside and in
Inside which they’ll never find us

I don’t know where you've been
Out on the sand with Medusa
And not busy with fighting gravity, the seducer

Go now and look out your window
Go now and look out your window
Tonight belongs to you
I hope there’s some to share

Tonight belongs to you
I hope there’s some to share
Silent conqueror of the night

Cover art for 90 Degrees lyrics by Ladytron

It's about a possible lover that can be anywhere out in the night, talking to a person that stays too much time at home and don't give itself the chance to find this lover. First part is a reference to the night coming, as the sun is in 90 degrees to anything, making any shadow "stretch forever". Second part is this possible lover talking about how the other person never shows itself, because it's paralyzed (like a stone, thus the reference of medusa, and not moving or laying down, thus not defying gravity). The third part makes it clear that this person is inside its home, this possible lover invites the person to look through the window, either to be seen, or to contemplate the possibilities of the night. Fourth (and last part that doesn't repeat) is another reference to the night, and how this possible lover and the person could be together, embraced with the shadow of the night.
