Fall Creek Boys Choir Lyrics
All went in the fire, drowning in the sea.
A red dawn, Oh red font.
Caught up in the sea. All went in the sea
If only if only. If only If only.
Did you want to find a way [fight] [fly away]
I always saw me love
I will be love befallen
I will lay my teeth
I'll wait for growing
And we both will know. And before you're all gone
Daring on the peak, telling on the teeth
I've been down to the open road
I'll wait for you, you know
And we both end up alone
And if only we could have known
x2
I will haaaaa
All went in the fire, drowning in the sea.
A red dawn, Oh red font.
Caught up in the sea, all went in the sea.
If only if only, If only if only.
I was effin' low.
A red dawn, Oh red font.
Caught up in the sea. All went in the sea
If only if only. If only If only.
I always saw me love
I will be love befallen
I will lay my teeth
I'll wait for growing
And we both will know. And before you're all gone
I've been down to the open road
I'll wait for you, you know
And we both end up alone
And if only we could have known
x2
A red dawn, Oh red font.
If only if only, If only if only.

This seems like they're talking about a sunset but I thought of a funeral.
All went in the fire, drowning in the sea.
A funeral. (of a girl): All went in the fire = A cremation
After that the ash will be thrown into the sea: drowning in the sea = burial at sea.
Caught up in the sea. All went in the sea (spreading her ashes).
I'm not sure about the rest of the song and maybe I'm wrong with my interpretation. What do you think?
I didn't think of that at first. But its a convincing interpretation. I think its to do with death and pain in general but also the element of the funeral arises. The 'drowning in the sea' is the freedom of the girls soul as ashes after death. Red Font, indicated blood. So Death and a funeral are the most likely scenarios. Its a weirdly beautiful song...

I always assumed that the fire mentioned in this song was in reference to the fire that destroyed the house on Lake Street in Eau Claire; which is also mentioned in the Bon Iver song Holocene ("3rd & Lake, it Burned Away..."), and presumably bears some emotional significance to Justin Vernon. The rest of the imagery then refers to Justin's initial reaction to learning of the house fire, and subsequently mourning the loss of a place that he strongly associated with a critical stage of his emotional development; spilling forth fragments of memories bound to the property.
