How It Ended Lyrics
those days when i would sit around with you
oh there's nothing like it
and even when my heart was black and blue
oh there's nothing like it
and everything before and after you
oh doesn't matter
so do you remember the old times
those were the only times, the only times
i don't know how it ended
i don't know where you ran to
i'll always be right here
i don't know how it ended
i don't know where you ran to
i'll always be right here
you never have to say that you were wrong
i know i'd do it all again even if it was wrong
and i could write a thousand more songs about you
before this one, so that the next one's for you
so do you remember the old times
those were the only times, the only times
i don't know how it ended
i don't know where you ran to
i'll always be right here
i don't know how it ended
i don't know where you ran to
i'll always be right here
and how will this sound
and when will my life begin
again, again, again, again
so do you remember the old times
those were the only times, the only times
i don't know how it ended
i don't know where you ran to
i'll always be right here
i don't know how it ended
i don't know where you ran to
i'll always be right here
oh there's nothing like it
and even when my heart was black and blue
oh there's nothing like it
and everything before and after you
oh doesn't matter
those were the only times, the only times
i don't know where you ran to
i'll always be right here
i don't know how it ended
i don't know where you ran to
i'll always be right here
i know i'd do it all again even if it was wrong
and i could write a thousand more songs about you
before this one, so that the next one's for you
those were the only times, the only times
i don't know where you ran to
i'll always be right here
i don't know how it ended
i don't know where you ran to
i'll always be right here
and when will my life begin
again, again, again, again
those were the only times, the only times
i don't know where you ran to
i'll always be right here
i don't know how it ended
i don't know where you ran to
i'll always be right here

oh, I guess this one is the most epic song ever in the Portamento album, well for me, at least.
This always be the official anthem for people who still got stuck with their previous romance. An undying flame for the one who left them behind but still willing to wait and forgive everything just to rekindle what they’ve been through. Sighing and reminiscing
Well, to most people, they just wanna try to forget and move on, but I think most of us still have that tendency to remain hopeful and wishing that person would realize what he missed out and turn back. And The Drums was able to capture that, that feeling of being optimistic while at the verge of being manic depressive.
I've read in somewhere that Johnny Pierce (the frontman) write this songs while they had an intimate tour/shows in London.
This song is about something deep, inside, a love of a place, someone ghostly, or something you can't describe in a words. But mainly, its a song about a place and a memories.
I think this song is about a guy feeling nostalgic about his past relationship and wondering where it went wrong. Seems like he messed things up / pushed her away maybe and now he's wondering "where (she) you ran to" and wants her back Lovely song
