Drifter Lyrics

Touch my face, wipe my cheek.
Talk to her, go to sleep.
Dream of nothing, wake up tired.
Talk to no one, not today.

I feel like drifting now.
I’m going to drift into your eye.

Touch my face, wipe my cheek.
Talk to her, go to sleep.
Dream of nothing, wake up tired.
Talk to no one, not today.

I feel like drifting now.
I’m going to drift into your eye.

my favorite song by wild nothing by far. definitely a song about a problem with a girl. i used to listen to this song when i would have altercations with this one girl. "Touch my face, wipe my cheek." the wipe my cheek is tears the second line is talking to her til late and sleeping on it the third and 4th lines go together, hes empty dreamt of nothing and is still tired, probably because he stayed up late talking to her, and the next day due to his depression he doesnt wanna see anyone/talk to anyone. and lastly he wants to drift back into her eyes. pretty self explanatory song

I believe in feeling like a drifter he means, He isn't sure of what comes next as in hes up for anything offering that sense of feeling needed or loved. Someone there or someone who was once there isn't anymore. Hitchhiking in the world of love, a true love can cause many sleepless nights to someone, can cause someone to dream of them. Wishing someone would come take his feeling of emptiness away if the other person moved on and you can't nothing is left but to move on and drift about until someone can fill the void. Not to say love can be easily replaced but someone who meant a lot, cried together, shared meaningful parts of their life its hard to forget someone like that. Love this band, Very deep and personal music.

My Opinion

I believe this song tells the story of a married man struggling with taking care of his baby. He is constantly tired from overwork, but he is poor and has to provide for the baby and his wife. Probably this situation has killed his love for his wife as well. But in this miserable state, his baby's eyes are the one thing he finds the strength to continue, while his life is slowly drifting away day by day.
