Who Are You, Really Lyrics

So you feel entitled to a sense of control
And make decisions that you think are your own
You are a stranger here, why have you come
Why have you come, lift me higher, let me look at the sun

Look at the sun and once I hear them clearly say
Who who are you really?
And where are you going?
Well I've got nothing left to prove
Cause I've got nothing left to lose
See me bare my teeth for you
Who who are you?

Now you're moving on and then you say you're alone
Suspicious that this string is moving your bones
We are the fire we see how they run
See how they run, lift me higher, let me look at the sun

Look at the sun and once I hear them clearly say
Who who are you really?
And where are you going?
Well I've got nothing left to prove
Cause I've got nothing left to lose
See me bare my teeth for you
See me bare my teeth

Who who are you really?
And where are you going?
Well I've got nothing left to prove
Cause I've got nothing left to lose
See me bare my teeth for you
Who who are you ?

The song was on the soundtrack of Teen Wolf. I suppose it has to do with a transformation into a wolf and dealing with identity (Human vs. Wolf) and what it has to do with his path in life. It's a beautiful song actually,

Am I the only one who immediately thought of Alice in Wonderland upon hearing this song? I mean think about, Cheshire Cat actually says "who are you?" in that creepy voice, and then "bares his teeth" for Alice. Could just be my mind, but I took this song to be about exploration that can lead to nowhere, or lead to somewhere magical and haunting.

"So you feel entitled to a sense of control"

Being entitled means having control of something, and in this case "you" feel having control to a sense of control. This creates the idea of illusion of control and illusion of controlling said illusion. This represents chaos and fantasy of a mind's world.

And make decisions that you think are your own

Same as before, illusion of control. Here he explicitly states that we are not free nor independant.

You are a stranger here, why have you come

Basically he entitles "here", which could be the earth, as his own and "why have you come" is a question everyone asks himself "Why are we here on earth"? He also marks "You" as something that comes out of this world, such as an angel or a god.

Why have you come, lift me higher, let me look at the sun "Lift me higher". Mikky Ekko clearly believes in the sun as god and trascendence, and lifting him higher has many meanings.

The first one is that he'll evolve, and here we see that he understands death as trascendence. The second one is that the one who he is talking to is in the world to make him trascend, hence she/he is an angel or a form of evolutionary spirit. This might also mean that she/he (it?) is the love (of his life) and as such it will help him evolve. Let me look at the sun is another way of saying "Show me the path to god", and then again this thing that appears (known as "you") happens to becaume an angel (which mikky ekko seas as doves, birds andd flying animals). Here he is asking, basically, to evolve into a higher "version" of himself.

Basically what the speaker shows here is that he wants to trascende in order to start having control rather than to having the illusion of control. He basically wants to become god, the sun, through this "you".
