Bodies Lyrics

This is a crime scene
and no one touches the victims, its evidence.
This is a crime scene
and no one touch the victims.
This is a crime scene and now the world has seen me
for who I am.
This is a crime scene and now the world has seen me.

Turns out they found the bodies.
The bodies in my floor.
Turns out they found the bodies,
underneath the boards.

Do you ever feel like you're a prisoner locked up?
In chains of guilt.
Do you ever feel like you're a prisoner locked up?

Do you ever feel like you've been sentenced to death and
there's no way out.
Do you ever feel like you've been sentenced to death?
God come down.

Turns out they found the bodies.
The bodies in my floor.
Turns out they found the bodies underneath the boards.

Put those handcuffs on me.
But don't be the first one to throw a stone.
Put those handcuffs on me.
What's buried in the heart will come out in the end.

Turns out they found the bodies.
The bodies in my floor.
Turns out they found the bodies underneath the boards.

This was a crime scene.
They said that I was a monster
in my past.
This was a crime scene but now I've acquitted.
God came down.

What's buried in the heart will eventually come out in the end. God come down.

Cover art for Bodies lyrics by Greeley Estates

The song tells the story of being ashamed of something, having it be exposed, and how religion helped him through this experience.

"do you ever feel like you've been sentenced to death and there's no way out?" possibly one of my favorite lines ever symbolizes the emotional strain from having your deepest buried secrets exposed. This is supported by "turns out they found the bodies, the bodies in my floor" as he is equating his struggle to one that has been convicted of murder.

"put those handcuffs on me, but don't be the first to throw a stone" one of my favorite lines from the bible (not that I know very many) is 'let he who is without sin throw the first stone' when people asked jesus if they should stone a "sinner" to death. so the line is basically saying, yes i have done something to be ashamed of, but everyone makes mistakes. The concept of forgiveness in religion is very important to him, hence, "god came down".

the guitar, drumming, and ambient effects are breathtaking and create a powerful atmosphere that is only bolstered by these incredible lyrics. greeley estates can so insightful, it is a real shame that they have stayed under the radar for so long
