Everybody Breaks A Glass Lyrics
It’s not a solid, not a soft thing
To pull the wool up like a smokescreen
Nobody does it like a prophet
It’s gone before you know you lost it
There are reasons you keep your hands tied
There’s certain things you shouldn’t have tried
So if you gotta tell me something
You better go from the beginning
We all forget to sleep
And crash at someone’s feet
Everybody skips a beat
We let the chances pass
The few we held so fast
Everybody breaks a glass
And here I'm standing in the middle
Not just a little but a hill full
Wondering how I got a head cold
Wishing I didn’t know what I know
It’s never been about the money
We’re worthy or we are not worthy
However much you got on your plate
You’re as good as you reciprocate
We all pretend to keep
Our tongue out of our cheek
Everyone’s the fool they seek
We all go off the track
And feel for our way back
Everybody breaks a glass
Everybody breaks a glass
Shook
Scared to look
At peers when they peer back
It’s weird how we fear that
It’s weird how we wear a mask
It appears when we fear our own tears more than tear gas
My team’s struggling in years past
Looking to draft beer to bring cheers back
But then the drinking game’s finished
No Guinness, just a clear glass
Seeing our real image mirrored back
The places that we to cope, it's so strange
When we’re older folks it don’t change
Trying to hang, we don’t know the ropes
When we fall we got more than our shoulders broke
It’s no game
That’s why we overdose on cocaine
Get our brains comatose, there’s no blame
If you’ve ever known shame, known pain
Known days when we really don’t feel okay
Somewhere perfection lies
But not for you and I
Everybody trips sometime
When cities fall like shacks
Walls eventually crack
Everybody breaks a glass
To pull the wool up like a smokescreen
Nobody does it like a prophet
It’s gone before you know you lost it
There are reasons you keep your hands tied
There’s certain things you shouldn’t have tried

what I'm getting from this is that everyone makes mistakes, and we are all hypocrites whether we like to admit it or not. we are only human. there's nothing wrong with that.
So are you justifying sin?
So are you justifying sin?
Pretty easy song to interpret.
We're all human, we're not perfect, we all make mistakes and, to a lesser degree, nothing lasts forever.
The rap takes a different perspective and explains how we fear looking weak in front of our peers. It furthers explains how we will go to great lengths (drugs and alcohol) in order to prevent this, perhaps referencing peer pressure.
I listened to this like 76876786876 times and tried to get the lyrics as accurate as possible. There's a few parts I'm unsure about, especially in the rap. If anyone has corrections please post them and I'll fix it :}
Great job w/the lyrics!

I just want to say that this is one of Light's greatest songs yet. It's truly well done.
Lights, you've elevated yourself. Keep going.
I love how the lyrics are so very LIGHTS-y and the vocals and the rest of the song are so different. It's supercrazycool.
So what exactly is the song about, lol?
As Rowkem mentioned the part about drugs and alochol and peer pressure. There is a line earlier in the song "And here I am just standing in the middle, not just a little but a hill full" Hill full of coke? and then it continues on "Wondering how I got a head cold, wishing that I didn't know". Personal experience perhaps? Great song. For the record, I'm not calling Lights a coke head! Just looking into the lyrics. Great tune.
This song is about how we are all human, everybody will make a mistake and everybody will have to deal with hard times. Sometimes it's hard to get back up. You need to take steps in life and sometimes if you miss a step you'll have to do everything over Everybody falls in love and deals with heartbreaks and everybody has emotions. It's about how we live our lives and it's a reminder TO live.
It kinda feels like a cheating situation though. "it's gone before you know you lost it", "There are reasons you keep your hands tied,/ there's certain things you shouldn't have tried/ So if you gotta tell me something,/ you better go from the beginning" looks like his begging her to stay and she is actually giving him a last chance because "We all forget to sleep, and crash at someone's feet" feels like she is telling that to herself. In every chorus it feels like she's thinking to herself, trying to find reasons to forgive him or to "get the blame out of his shoulders". Again this "We all forget to sleep, and crash at someone's feet" feels like it's the reason why he cheated. He crashed at someone else's feet. Just an interpretation of the song but for me it kinda makes sense.
