Rebel Girls Lyrics

Baby we could make it to the outer reaches of inner space
Create castles
Monuments to flesh
A triangled Valhalla on the side of the moon

Raven eyed those Valkyries
Rebel girls, rebel girls, tearing it up
Paying no mind to the divide
Raven eyes all over me

Them and I need to collide

Do it so (Rebel girls, rebel girls, tearing it up)
No one will know
Rarest pearls (Rebel girls, rebel girls filling my cup)
Rebel Girls

Waiting at the gates it's blue eyed and blonde
With black eyed and brown
We'll make tangible inner space
Reflect the never quiet rebellion on the side of the moon

Raven eyed those Valkyries
Rebel girls, rebel girls, tearing it up
Paying no mind to the divide
Raven eyes all over me
Rebel girls, rebel girls filling my cup
Them and I need to collide

Do it so (Rebel girls, rebel girls, tearing it up)
No one will know
Rarest pearls (Rebel girls, rebel girls filling my cup)
Rebel Girls

Raven eyed those Valkyries
Rebel girls, rebel girls, tearing it up
Paying no mind to the divide

FYI~ 'Vahalla' is a Norse myth referring to a great hall of Odin where warriors who die as heroes in battle dwell eternally, and 'Valkyries' are beautiful maidens attendant upon Odin who bring the souls of slain warriors chosen by Odin to Valhalla and there wait upon them....

Sometimes, brandon's make no sense, or at least the way he puts lyrics to certain songs and this song is definitely a great song. 'Rebel Girls' sounds kind of like a strange poetry-rap with a catchy chorus... He refers to Odin twice: the supreme creator god; the divinity of wisdom, culture, war, and the dead.

So I suppose there is a greater meaning behind his lyrics... I don't know anyone who would just randomly write lyrics like that without meaning. I think 'Rebel Girls' are Valkyries.

Thebrain912 needs to change his name to the dumb!

If you actually did research on what he is talking about in this song you would know that the Valkyrie is, in the oldest strata of belief, a corpse goddess, represented by the carrion-eating raven. The name in Old Norse, valkyrja, means literally, "chooser of the slain." The Valkyrie is related to the Celtic warrior-goddess, the Morrigan, who likewise may assume the form of the raven.

The reference to Valhalla is the hall of Odin (The Norse God) into which the souls of heroes slain in battle and others who have died bravely are received. So you see that Brandon is referring to himself as Odin, this god of war who collects the fallen hero corpses by way of Valkyries. The reference to monuments of flesh HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH SEX! It is a monument of corpses in "triangular" form the triangle was a popular form in Norwegian & Greek art usually symbolizing the connection between gods and man.

girls not being so goody goody and going on a journey (coitus) . eyes connecting and colliding and experiencing each other's company up in the sky

My Interpretation

Why do all the interesting words begin with the letter C. The song is about LOT and LOTS of girls. That is all I could figure out from the lyrics :)

Why is this "Flagged." Did they assume from my name that it would not be on the up and up??? Ah, my reputation preceeded me once again, although I did write "coitus". I love the English language and if you think about it the big C words have to do with sex. Why is that? I'll have to research it. And, NO, 'collide' is not one of the biggies although it's a wicked cool word.

I second plaing34's comment. This song is not at all about sex. The mentioning of Valhalla and the valkyries makes the Raven eyes a reference to Odin's ravens Huginn (thought) and Muninn (mind). The Valkyries are female figures that decide who falls and dies in battle. Where is the reference to sex in all that?

This song makes think of a drug-induced orgy that's going on in the song and its amazing how Brandon is able to find the poetic-ness and lyrical side of it

"Raven eyes all over me, rebel girls, rebel girls tearing it up...no one will know" refers to the hunting eyes of the women in the song that are wanting more (sex). Tearing it up refers to either sex in a vulgar way, or referring to how good the sex feels. Then it refers to "Blue eyed and blonde with black eyed and brown"....two girls who he is having sex with. Sounds like a cocaine-induced orgy...but I wouldn't know ;)
