It took me a while to get this, but if you watch the video it makes since. This song is about getting away from her old self cause she has been around forever but just as Holly Brooke. It's basically about growing from her oldself to make a better new self
ahhhh ! no ones commented ?! this is ridiculous ! i love this song and Skylar Grey herself ! (even if there are only three songs of hers up at the moment and I'm the first to comment on any of them..) This song reminds me of my mother and my relationship. No trust ! ITs saying that I need to dance without you/ rejoice without you controlling my every move !...I am lost on the cannot take your whispering though (besides the fact it sounds cool :)) but I take it as what she says to her friends about her children and the things they do that should probably be kept between only us two...not whoever she pleases !

I think she is expressing her distaste in a relationship she has with someone. She feels as though they are smothering her and watching her every move waiting for her to make a mistake hence the " I can not take your whispering". Dance represents the idea of being free/liberated and the line " I wanna dance without you" is an indication that she wants to be her own person and be able to act without worrying about what they think.
The way I take this song is from my personal experiences like I have bipolar several eating disorders and I just want to break free of them because they've held me back from so much in life and so basically the "you" in this song is my disorders in my mind...
This song has to do with inner turmoil within the narrator. I think she is talking to her demons that are holding her back from being easy and light-spirited. The lyrics, "I break my neck to be polite" is telling the listener that is it is extremely difficult for her to even be just a little nice. She is being "confined" and "restrained" by something inside of her that she feels is as real as the back of her hand. She wants to break free from this being that is "whispering" inside of her head. This being inside of her in dragging her down and draining the life out of her and she cannot handle it anymore. She is carrying around a heavy conscious that is preventing her from enjoying life.
I really dont know what this song means, though it reminds me about a love obsetion.. you know those times when your complety crazy/ in love with some girl/guy (even though he/she doesnt love you bac or talk to you), as skylar goes crazy.. for something that doesnt even exist such as his whispering on her mind,,its pretty hard to understand but kinda cool
