Jungles Lyrics

It’s overwhelming me, the static in the trees
The sun is burning me, there is no cooling breeze
We don’t belong to ourselves, at the mercy of the cats

We belong to places, to places
Strong and brave courageous, our tiger faces

I crouch down low and freeze, the leaves are shuffling
Lips curl away from teeth, she has been prowling me
We don’t belong to ourselves, they’ve been planning their attack

We belong to what we come from, leaving home will be a struggle
Wearing masks and beating war drums won’t equip us for these jungles

This song is really good. I got exposed to it from playing Fifa soccer 13. I liked it from the first time I heard it.

The lyrics are super interesting. I get a picture of the Native Americans for some reason. Even though they fought back initially they couldn't get accept the inevitable of being forcibly put on reservations.

Kinda enforces ideas of territorialism to me, clinging fast to what we know from experience not accepting change in general.

"We belong to what we come from, leaving home will be a struggle Wearing masks and beating war drums won’t equip us for these jungles."

Also there is the idea our ingrained cultures and customs won't totally equip us from the struggle of being in a wildly, untamed struggle for civilization.

My thoughts.
