Street Joy Lyrics

I don't mind the sound
Of a voice
Of your voice
When you use it like your gun
So much fun
Fire your gun

Casual as you are, gets hard to say
I won't say
'less you're going away

He street himself on up to your front door
You've been a world of ideas about the rich and the poor
With his car horn talk, he'll make your focus break
When you're left to yourself, you're going anyway

I don't differentiate
We from they
We from they
Fill my appetite
Wild light
Sleepless night
Lean my head against an angry moon
Always room
Angry moon

In and out of a metal chair
In an unloved apartment where
I can build myself up before I make the scare
Street myself up onto your front door

Street joy
You adore

I've been listening to this song for some time and there's a few lyrical mishaps in your interpretation. You did a great job with the lyrics except for like 3 parts. In the begining he says: "Of A Voice. Of Your Voice." The first line of the chorus is: "He's Stringing..." The last line of the chorus is: " When you're left to yourself, you're going anyway."

Thanks for the corrections. Since the band doesn't publish the lyrics, it's up to us! :)

Great work on this. It took me forever to figure out he was saying "With his car horn talk...," what a bizarre and wonderful metaphor.

After listening to a handful of live versions of this, I would recommend the following corrections:

First chorus: "He's stringing himself up..." --> "He street himself up...." First chorus: "You been a wall of ideas..." --> "You been a world of ideas...." First chorus: "With his car horn talk, you make..." -> "With his car horn talk, he'll make..."

Second verse: "Feel my appetite..." --> "(I) fill my appetite..."

Second chorus: "I can build myself up before I make the scare..." --> "I can build myself up before I make the scale..." (as in, scaling a mountain) Second chorus: "String myself up..." --> "Street myself up...."

The lyrics here hit the studio version on the head. Live, James Petralli likes to add little phrases here and there, especially in slow-jam versions where they're really groovin'. As an example: the album version sounds like "Always room, angry moon...," but live he'll sing: "Cuz there's always room, on an angry moon..."
