Kind of a Jesus & Mary Chain-like rhythm, reminds me of 'Reverence'. I think this song is about suicide. Girl makes a sorrowful, difficult decision to 'sever ties', goes to a 'high point', jumps, and 'away, away' she goes into the 'cold current'. She wants to go on her own terms ('before they push/pull you under'). The 'there would be tears, flowers, long shadows/she could see it now' is probably referring to her thinking about what her funeral would be like. Just my thoughts anyways.
