Now the women are cryin' and the kids are dyin' and the men are runnin' away
Somethin' weird has happened and the devil he's a-laughin' and the church don't know what to say
Now the recently deceased have been openin' their eyes but I know it's been prophesied
through the comics I've been readin' and the movies I've been seein' so it comes to me as no surprise

And I don't care, I didn't warn the human race.
It's only fair, oh that we take our place.

'Cause it's the end of the world, and I don't give a shit.
The earth will be a better place without you and me.
So I climb up on my roof to throw myself from it,
because doom, death, and destruction is all I see.

Now reporters are talkin' and the zombies are a-walkin' and the government's been fallin' apart
So I think I better go 'cause these puppies ain't slow, even though they ain't very smart
If you notice more than five and you wanna stay alive then you probably should be running away
I saw them tear my wife in two there was nothing I could do but it happened just the other day

I didn't care, 'cause it was time for her to go.
It's only fair, and now she's better off, I know.

'Cause it's the end of the world, and I don't give a shit.
The earth will be a better place without you and me.
So I climb up on my roof to throw myself from it,
because doom, death, and destruction is all I see.
Alright!

As I'm sittin' on my house I'm as quiet as a mouse but they still keep gatherin' 'round
So I made myself a deal and they're gonna get a meal when I throw myself to the ground
As they're waitin' down there I'm gonna drink my last beer God forgive me for my sin
I'm hopin' I will be dead if I land on my head if not I'll be born again

And I won't care, cause now it's time for me to go.
It's only fair, and now I'm better off, I know.

'Cause it's the end of the world, and I don't give a shit.
The earth will be a better place without you and me.
So I climb up on my roof to throw myself from it,
because doom, death, and destruction is all I see

EVERYBODY!

It's the end of the world, and we don't give a shit!
The earth will be a better place without you and me.
So we climb up on our roofs to throw ourselves from it,
because doom, death, and destruction is all we see
because doom, death, and destruction is all we see
because doom, death, and destruction is all we see

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.
