Such A Sad Puppy Dog Lyrics

My baby
my baby’s got no words for me
you know my brothers in jail

My father said son
oh son I can’t afford his bail
And they put a crown on to his head and they murdered him

(Winter went down him
the mountain spat snow again)

My baby/ my baby’s got no words for me
you know a brothers in jail

My father said son
oh son I can’t afford his bail

(Now don’t let me
take up my fathers dreams)

He said wants to be
Shorty wants to be a thug
He said he’s gonna be
Shorty’s gonna be a thug

A "crown" may also refer to a coin of British currency...

no offence bro but your analysations of the crown as a symbol of responsibility are 'somewhat wrong'. crown is most likely money. they comment on consumerist/capitalist society and the false importance of money. e.g. sick of people obsessing over it (concrete gold) and 'suits' on animals (free humans). In this song, he explicitly tells of a story where a brother is in jail. when his dad can't afford his bail, they 'put a crowny on his head and murdered him'. by 'putting a crown on his head' they are basically talking about putting a monetary value on someones life. more true in the U.S. than the UK, this is dealing with the bailing system where if you don't have the money, you must give your life in jail.

A crown is mentioned repeatedly throughout the album. These songs seem to all be dealing with this crown, but in somewhat different ways

My Interpretation

It's called bond. And even the poorest often get it providing the court believes their crimes are not so heinous that they are a threat to the general public. And I don't believe "crown" means what you said it does. I believe it is much like the crown Jesus wore before he was killed. S/he's saying that the brother does not deserve what's occurring. He's been falsely accussed and the odds are stacked against him. WHAT is your preoccupation with capitalism, a system that has shown it is much better than any socialist system that ever was (and then failed....since...

i noticed that too... lucifer's crown? humanity's crown? the individual's crown?

These seem like nice interpretations. I was thinking, perhaps this is a reference to Christianity and Jesus' crucifixion? Jesus (the son in the lyric) was murdered, and God (the father in the lyric) had the ability to bail him out and save his life however the father didn't do it because if he did, the people wouldn't learn that their sins (the money in the lyric) won't save them.
Indeed It seems that the reference to the crown is about monetary values, but at the same time, we are sinning as we allow the meaningless valuables of the world consume us in a capitalistic, egotistical, superficial world. Go tell Fire!
