To me, this song is about putting your all into something and being met with indifference. Feeling like no matter how hard you try you'll never be anywhere near the superstars.
I'm interested if anyone has an idea on what the "story of two friends" and "cover the tracks we left behind" means.
@NickelWound I know I'm only answering this 8 years later, but to me those lines kind of indicate a strained or failed relationship/friendship of some sort. A thing that happens in everyday life.
