Scars Lyrics

Scars cover you in fine lines,
number you a timeline,
where was I when you stopped trying

You borrowing my tears and
harrowing in my mirror,
covering our eyes so I can't see us crying.

I'm not going home without you
I'll save your life
Not going home without you
I'll make this right,
and wait all night if that's what it takes.

I can't believe this skin is one we've always been with
for as long as we recall it for
everything that it's been through
Know that I forgive you
Know that I will hold you when

the sky is falling
I'm not going home without you
I'll save your life
Not going home without you
I'll make this right
and wait all night if that's what it takes.

And my reflection shows we're clinging to dear life
but I won't let us go we'll make it through all right. x 2

Scars cover you in fine lines
number you a timelines
maybe it is time that we lived by my guidelines
I'm not going home without you
I'll save your life
No, not going home without you.
I'll make this right
and wait all night if that's what it takes.

Save your life,
if that's what it takes,
wait all night if that's what it takes.

This song, geez, it's just so amazingly beautiful and emotional that I always feel the need to cry at the end. I'll forever love it.

Anna actually explained the whole meaning of the song in a concert a few months back (there is a video on youtube). She said that she went through a period of 'self-infliction', and was to a point where she looked in the mirror and saw herself. She then spoke to herself and told herself all the things she needed to hear for her to get through the pain and sorrow. That's what this song is about, the words she needed to hear to tell herself that she'll be alright.

She said that the song leaked onto youtube, and it became pretty popular, and that a fan wrote to her and said that the song helped her to stop her own self-infliction. The song had become her own song just as much as Anna's. At that point, Anna decided that the song was just too powerful to keep to herself, so she recorded it for her album for others to hear. That's a pretty good story to go along with such a gorgeous song. <3

Song Meaning
Cover art for Scars lyrics by Anna Nalick

I'm actually singing this song in about a week or so in my High School Talent Show for my final Senior year. Only because my entire life I have experienced this feeling and have watched others younger than me go through this and barely starting high school. Some of them are my friends and have almost committed suicide... So I am going to say my farewell to them from this school, with a message from this song telling them that everything will be alright and not to worry about being alone because we all reach that heavy point in life where we can't lift anymore. I want to encourage them to keep lifting and to stay strong. As well as everyone on on this website and all social media networks. I want all of them to never feel alone and to stay strong. :)
