Shallow's Low Lyrics

Forty days and forty nights
Learn to swim you'll be all right
Pull the pin and see the light
Ya, we're all shallow's low

Down the dawn treader
All lies the love letters
Know the maiden always
We're all shallow's low

"Forty days and forty nights Learn to swim you'll be all right

  • In Noahs Ark they were left at sea on the boat with animals for 40 days and 40 nights when god punished the world. Learn to swim and be alright- survive the struggle of change, and this resetting of the world as it was flooded with water. If you do survive and change your ways, youll be better than before.

"Pull the pin and see the light"

  • We gotta say goodbye to our current ways of life, possession-based, externally driven, inequality, ongoing wars, excessive stress. Kill the current worlds way. "Ya, we're all shallow's low"

"Down the dawn treader"

  • the dawn treader refers to the boat that sails to the edge of the world when the world was thought to be flat. Sailing to the egde of the world, to a new frontier. Reference to these waters coincides with the 40 days and nights of noahs ark. This could highlight the journey to a new way of living, expectedly enlightened relative to the current.

"All lies the love letters" -Refers to the emptyness or fakeness in what could seem so good. So the emptyness of our current living

"Know the maiden always"

  • Know the innocence that is exemplified by the maiden (virgin or unmarried woman), that is purity, humility, humanity, whatever. I think the girls voice in this song, sounding very innocent, suggests the feminine description of the maiden. Its like Jungs anima, divine feminine, guide to self actualization and individuation. The a greater being.

"We're all shallow's low "

  • Our current state
