Featherstone Lyrics
Wake up to the sound of your fleeting heart
Wake up to the sound of your fleeting heart
When you go, what you leave is a work of art
On my chest, on my heart
She went out to the hay in the morning grace
She went out and got lost in a tall hedge maze
Where'd you go? Where'd you go? Why'd you leave this place?
On my heart, on my face
And my love is yours but your love's not mine
So I'll go but we know I'll see you down the line
And we'll hate what we've lost but we'll love what we find
And I'm feeling fine, we've made it to the coastline
Ooh, ooh, ooh ooh ooh
Ooh, ooh, ooh ooh ooh
Past all the signs of the slow decline
Live like your love wasn't meant for mine
Now you've gone, now you've gone to a different life
Til the loneliest side
Wake up to the sound of your fleeting heart
Wake up to the sound of your fleeting heart
When you go, what you leave is a work of art
On my chest, on my heart
And my love is yours but your love's not mine
So I'll go, but we know I'll see you down the line
And we'll hate what we've lost but we'll love what we find
And oh, I'm feeling fine, we've made it to the coastline
Ooh, ooh, ooh ooh ooh
Ooh, ooh, ooh ooh ooh
Ooh, ooh, ooh ooh ooh
Ooh, ooh, ooh ooh ooh
Ooh, ooh, ooh ooh ooh
Wake up to the sound of your fleeting heart

I think this song is spoken by a boy about a girl he really loves. She is a free spirit, a wanderer. She loves him but she doesn't think he is the right one and she loves the world also. She is ready to go out and see what this world has to offer her. They had something beautiful while it lasted and she helped shape his soul and mind but she cannot continue to love him when she is so ready to adventure.
"And we'll hate what we've lost but we'll love what we find" The two will always miss the beautiful memories and moments they shared and miss out but they both know there are thousands of possibilities for both of them just waiting to be found. Maybe someday they will meet again and understand one another's souls better than they did prior, but for now they must keep on living.
This describes the classic bittersweet breakup. No one person did anything wrong, no harsh words were exchanged, simply it is time to find new love and life. There will always be a tiny love for one another for the "work of art" they have created within.
The girl is a dreamer, a wanderer, and the boy is intrigued and loves her with his full heart, but he knows one day he will be able to find a love again, that may possibly be quite different.
A beautiful message for all to keep in mind.
that is beautiful. Oh my goodness I am bawling like a baby. Thank you so much for posting this. It really relates to me right now.
